The Root Cause of Mark Hurd's Demise

Given all those lawyers and the confidentiality agreements that have been signed, we will likely never know exactly what happened between Hurd and that very attractive actress, Jessica Jodie Fisher. But from both what had been said, and not said, it seems that Mark Hurd's demise can be explained by an old Yiddish expression that, roughly translated, means "When the prick stands up, the brains get buried in the ground."

I don't know the Yiddish words, but it sure seems apt here.

P.S. There is an interesting if small literature on "Why Smart People Can Be So Stupid;" I suspect that Mr. Hurd's name will begin to appear in it; there is a lot written about Bill Clinton in it, as you might expect.

Actually, the analogy is probably as much Nixon as Clinton. It's not the crime that does the leader in, it's the cover-up. If Hurd hadn't fudged his expense account reports, his wife might be filing for divorce, but he'd probably still be CEO of HP.

However, you can bet that threats by Fisher's celebrity lawyer to splash the accusations all over the tabloid press regardless of their veracity, probably occurred, too.

I have to disagree with you on a minor point. Despite the best efforts by the best lawyers money could buy, I think that it is only a matter of time until details of this sordid mess come to light. People are incapable of keeping a secret. I strongly suspect that given how unloved Hurd was at HP, someone is going to take great delight in leaking the details.
