I haven't written anything for The Huffington Post for awhile, as I have been focusing on Work Matters. But I thought it would be fun to start posting there again, at least every now and then. I put-up a post called Title Tales: Weird Censorship and The No Asshole Rule. Part 1 went up yesterday and Part 2 went up today. I list 13 different kinds of reactions that media sources and others have had to the book, tell some stories about them, and do a bit of analysis at the end. The reactions I talk about range from "We like the book but are afraid to say anything about it" (NPR Morning Edition), to "You can use the word, but we can't" (INC Magazine), we can use the word, but you can't (Amazon.com), to "you can say "asshole" but not arse" (BBC radio). I will continue to devote most of my blogging efforts here, but it was fun to do something different.

I need your opinion about the assholes in this office. In 2006 I had a run in with the Queen of AH's and since that day she has not returned because I protected my rights. So since the eruption of Jan 2006 the manager here who has protected the AH's,therefore being one himself has had to take courses on how to manage and I'm pretty sure that all the other AH's had to take something in dealing with conflict in the workplace. Well my question is how do I deal with the under tone of hostility which they are all hiding very well to the others in the office. But when I'm left alone with them they will not acknowledge my presence in a room, no eye contact, and never a hello good morning or kiss my A. How do I manage this behavior without feeling hurt and sad? I also don't have any support here because being a small branch of the government everyone is watching their own backs and I guess associating with me is like associating with a trouble maker, when I was really the solution. I thankfully only have 10 more years here before retirement, but that adds up to many days before then.

The whole time I was reading THE NO ASSHOLE RULE a few months ago I was thinking that you were pretty brave to give it that title. As descriptive as it is, its political incorrectness probably damaged it in some contexts, like reviews. I think if I had written it, I would have used my preferred euphemism for asshole, "Fucking Dickhead".
